Unapologetic Women

The lottery of being a woman

Episode Summary

In the earlier episodes, we opened the conversation into our own identification with feminism and how women are perceived in the workplace. It was impossible to have a complete discussion on this topic without bringing in an expert--and who better than Laëtitia--who has been writing, speaking, and educating about this topic for decades. We were fortunate to speak to Laëtitia just after she completed her fourth manuscript on productivity with a feminist perspective.

Episode Notes

In the episode, we dig into the idea that all "orthodox" economists are men who are looked after by a wife or a mother and that's shaped how they define economic value & productivity. There are so many facets to this conversation and for that, we are grateful to have Laëtitia's expert perspective.

We discussed motherhood, the impacts of COVID on women, the historical dependence on men dictating our economic worth, and how some women win the lottery with genetics. If you are looking for other points of view on this topic we shared some resources here. If you only read one, we recommend Career Women: the French vs the American Model (Laetitia@Work). This is the final episode in our three-part conversation to really dive into the correlations between ageism, feminism, and women in the workforce.
